Brothers’ War is back in black with a whole batch of black spoilers that reveal what those Phyrexians have been up to in the past.

Time Travel stories hold the potential for all sorts of problems. Paradox. Temporal inversions. History rewriting itself. All of which is exactly where we are with Brothers’ War. The time-walking Teferi knows what’s going on. But so do the Phyrexians, many of whom lurk in the black spoilers for the new set.

There are some old familiar faces here. Including Gix and Yawgmoth. All waiting to ooze their inky oil onto Dominaria’s past.

Brothers’ War – Black Spoilers

Ashnod, the artificer of flesh, plays a key role in the Brothers’ war events. Ashnod, Flesh Merchant shows how Black will play with the Powerstone mechanic. They can turn creatures into Powerstones, and then their bodies into zombie artifact creatures. But you won’t want to exile your whole graveyard for this, otherwise the Battlefield Butcher will have nothing to chop up.

We also get our first look at some of the Phyrexians here with Gix and his Disciples. These machines are surely up to something.

Gix himself is a perfectly phyrexian praetor. If you like milling yourself and your opponents, turning their strength into yours. Gix’s Caress, on the other hand, will take your opponent’s hands away. While Gix’s Command is a useful charm.

As you can see, there’s a lot of removal in Black’s toolbox this time around. But they’ve got some surprisingly resilient creatures. Or at least, they’ve got the potential to be if you can power them up.

Powerstone Fracture is a powerful removal card that can pay off those powerstone tokens you have lying around. But now we get into the artifacts.

Ashnod’s Harvester removes graveyards for better or worse.

Meanwhile the Clay Revenant and Razorlash Transmogrant are there to be good, cheap creatures. But the Phyrexian Fleshgorger is a truly terrifying beast.

All these and more await in Brothers’ War!
