Red Wizards and more abound in new D&D: Honor Among Thieves footage. Heroes, villains, and a surprising amount of puppets.

It’s telling that a movie having puppets in it is a) news, and b) exciting to hear at that. Practical effects still leave a lasting impact, and what’s more, tell you that if nothing else, the filmmakers put in more than just an offhand thought into what’s happening in the movies. So when D&D: Honor Among Thieves revealed their new footage, An Epic Journey, and showed off some of the behind-the-scenes creature craft, it was not only heartening but exciting.

The odds of the D&D movie being actually good keep going up. And with March 31st closer than you think (but still far enough away, don’t worry, it’s fine), things are looking up for Honor Among Thieves.

In the new footage, we get a little bit more of an in-depth look at more of the monsters featured in the film.

In addition to what looks like a kuo-toa (or maybe an Aboleth but it’s way too small), there’s more of the Owlbear. We also get more of the Red Wizards in action, who look like they’ll prove to be the actual villains. Hugh Grant’s Forge, a professed “con man” seems to be working another angle.

Meanwhile, more classic D&D around-the-table moments make their way, cheekily into the movie. Including the Paladin complaining about having to work with a bunch of thieves. And my personal favorite, the Barbarian realizing that their weapon is, in fact, magical:

Always fun when it happens. Alongside the new footage, came a new poster, which shows off even more of the world:
