Games Workshop is showcasing the World Eater’s Daemon Primarch’s rules and oh man…Angron is coming for skulls.

Angron is the Daemon Primarch of the World Eaters and even before his ascension to Daemonhood he was a scary, scary beast of a warrior. Now that he’s on his way to the 40k tabletop with a new model he’s getting some matching rules that are looking just as fancy. Few things in the 40k universe are going to want to go toe-to-toe with him. And even fewer things will be able to do that and survive!

“A supreme fighter even before his ascension, Angron is a frothing cocktail of skill, power, and incandescent rage, and his arrival spells doom for those unlucky enough to meet him on the battlefield.”

Yep. Those are some Daemon Primarch level stats! As GW put it “Red Angel clocks in at a monstrous Strength 9, making his open hand slaps as powerful as a lascannon blast” and yeah…that’s a great way to frame that. But he doesn’t slap people open handed. Oh no, Angron has weapons…and he’s not afraid to use them. But everyone else should be afraid when he does.

Uh..yikes?! One of the things I do like about the Daemon Primarch thus far has been their various attack profiles. By that, I mean they typically do have options for either slapping a single target REAL hard and an option for mowing down many targets like wheat. In this case, Angron follows that trend. Here we have the Bloodletting Sweep which is 3 attack roles per use of this attack. If you’re doing some basic math at home that’s a possible…36 attacks at STR 9, AP -3, that each do 1 damage. So yeah…yikes!

Alternatively, he also has that Skull-Taking Slash which clocks in at STR 14(!!!) AP -4 and does D3+3 damage per hit. And that’s still a mind blowing 12 attacks base with the potential to do 12D3+36 damage if everything connects. Oh and if you roll perfectly that’s a MAX of 72 damage. Seems about right.

“Even with an average set of rolls, you can expect Angron to effortlessly eviscerate around 30 troopers like it’s no big deal. He might not have an arcane alien gun or fancy psychic powers to show off, but who needs magic when you have huge arms and a whopping great axe to grind?”

Just as a gag GW made up a chart comparing damage output vs the other Daemon Prince Primarchs.

I would not want to be a Guardsmen in that case.

Anyhow that’s all for Angron. He’s just a big, bad killy machine! Good thing he doesn’t have any other rules to keep track of. What’s that? He has extra rules that make him even more deadly and efficient at killing things? Yes. Yes he does.

I mean…take your pick! No serious, you get to take you pick at the start of each of your Command Phases between one of these three auras. I can’t wait to use Righteous Slaughter to wade into a unit because I want cover from shooting. That’s gonna be fun.

The big Red Angel of Angries is coming soon. Protect ya Neck!
