Just in time for the holidays, GW pulls the covers off the all new Dark Angels Chapter Master Azrael mini. Take a look!

GW didn’t sit on its laurels this Christmas, and look what Warhammer Santa let beneath the tree for us all:

We’ve been waiting for GW to continue the slow, steady replacement of all the old finecast miniatures, and the Dark Angels are up this time.  Azrael’s old mini is pretty long in the tooth, so it’s about time. Here’s what Nottingham says about the new mini:

via Warhammer Community

“It’s an angel, and a decidedly dark one too – the Keeper of the Truth himself, Azrael, Supreme Grand Master. Abaddon and Vashtorr’s plan to destroy the Imperium has caught the Dark Angels in its jaws. Still recovering from crossing the Rubicon Primaris, Azrael has taken up the legendary Sword of Secrets and his master-crafted combi-plasma, The Lion’s Wrath.

Azrael does not walk into battle alone – wherever he goes, he’s accompanied by a Watcher in the Dark. This mysterious being can carry either his sword’s scabbard or the Lion Helm into battle for him. Not only is he geared up to the nines, Azrael also rocks an incredible outfit. Those robes, purity seals, esoteric symbols, flared helmet wings, and that magnificent back banner combine to make him perhaps the most dripped out Chapter Master in the 41st Millennium. Look at the size of him!”

They promise more details in 2023, so who knows…maybe he’s part of the remaining Arks of Omen narrative arc (heh, see what I did there). But that does make me think that as we saw in late 8th Edition’s Psychic Awakening, GW will use the series to shoehorn in a lot of miscellaneous Characters who need their old minis replaced. That’s an interesting list if you think about it. Enjoy the below video, and let’s see what else GW can squeeze in before New Years day.
