Aaron Taylor-Johnson has met with the Bond producers – is he the next actor to play the iconic spy?

Names have been thrown around since Daniel Craig announced his retirement three years ago. Bond fans have been pushing for Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, and Tom Hiddleston. James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson told Deadline earlier this year that they were looking for an actor in his 30s. This ruled out some fan favorites outside of that range.

“We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience… a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something. He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a 30-something.”

The producers of the franchise mentioned they were going to start looking this year. Based on a recent report, they may have made their choice earlier than expected.

Is Aaron Taylor-Johnson New Bond?

Puck News is reporting that Aaron Taylor-Johnson met with producer Barbara Broccoli recently and that it went well. Taylor-Johnson fits a lot of what they’re looking for and follows the trend of Bond actors. He’s 32, English, is not exactly a household name, and the dude is not bad looking. He’s got a diverse resume with movies from a secretive soldier in Tenet to the main love interest in Anna Karenina. The actor has also made an appearance in the MCU as Pietro aka Quick Silver. He and Brian Tyree Henry were the best parts of Bullet Train.

But…

There are a couple of possible hitches with this bit of casting news. It’s early and there’s plenty of time to cast the part.  The script isn’t done, so they may not know exactly what they’re looking for. The other thing to consider is that Taylor-Johnson fits the bill now, but there is the possibility that the actor will hit a level of fame the producers want to avoid. He has two high-billing projects coming up – Kraven the Hunter and The Fall Guy.

If this news pans out and we get an Aaron Taylor-Johnson Bond, I won’t be mad in the least… even though he’s not my top pick.
