Critical Role and Amazon team up to open the doors on a Critical Role cinematic universe, starting with a show centering on the Mighty Nein.

As The Legend of Vox Machina soars on Amazon Prime Video, bringing the story of one party of adventurers to an exciting middle, Critical Role and Amazon announced a much bigger deal in the works. Starting with a new show featuring the Mighty Nein.

After a record-breaking crowdfunding campaign brought the Legend of Vox Machina to Amazon Prime for a two-season deal that has since become three seasons, things seemed primed (pun intended) for more. And, per their announcement, Critical Role has even more planned, including television, films, and “other content.”

For now, let’s start with the Mighty Nein show.

Critical Role And Amazon To Make Mighty Nein Show

The video announcement kicks off everything for the Mighty Nein. Starting with clips from the campaign, though with some editing and echoing effects. As the camera pans over the livestreamed show’s set, we get hints of what might be coming. The cleric, Jester, asks Nott to open her heart to Chaos. The confrontation between Fjord and Uk’otoa. There’s a lot of exciting stuff to be gleaned here.

There’s a lot to dig into.

There’s no actual release date yet. The story will follow the Mighty Nein trying to “prevent the kingdom from plunging into chaos when an arcane artifact capable of reshaping reality falls into the wrong hands.” Which could be many things! Is that the Luxon Beacon? Is that Calianna’s bowl? We’ll have to wait and see. There are no details or even a proposed release date as of yet.

But the Mighty Nein show is just the first of many things to be produced under a new agreement. As Variety reported, Amazon and Critical Role have a much more extensive deal:

Under the deal with Amazon Studios, Critical Role will continue to produce under its production banner, Metapigeon, which will develop its own original TV shows, films, and content while continuing to “partner with talented creatives on a new slate of projects, both in and outside of the Critical Role universe,” according to the companies.

And according to Amazon, one of their big goals is to expand the “iconic franchise for […] global Prime Video customers.” This means more Critical Role worldwide.

All that remains is to find out ‘how do they wanna do this?’
