This new Rumor Engine is less interesting than where it came from. Get ready for a deep lore cut from this image from the future.

Games Workshop is back with a brand new Rumor Engine. Why? Because it’s Tuesday and that’s just how they roll. The interesting thing about this new Rumor Engine is the text that accompanies it. But before we get into all that, let’s see the image.

I’m not sure exactly what we’re looking at but I think it’s some type of drone or alarm. It’s got various lights and sensors on it. Plus it’s got some probes and wire coming out of the bottom. I’m not sure if the larger round bits next to the light are engines or something else. Could this be attached to something or some other vehicle? Is it carried by a person or manned by a pilot? That’s all unclear. It’s a weird one.

As far as what army it could be a part of the biggest clue to me is the light. That looks a lot like most Imperial (or Imperial adjacent) designs. Ad Mech seem like a likely candidate. But we’ve also seen hits at more Space Marines in the future. I wouldn’t rule out a strange chaos device at this point or even something from the Leagues of Votann.

But what’s really got my interest this week is the text that comes with this teaser:

“Today’s Rumour Engine image is a little different, as it’s been generously supplied by today’s sponsor in lieu of the Engine itself. Big thanks to the Outreach and Edification Programme of the Prismatic Galleries on Solemnace… wherever that is.

We’ve been informed that, due to temporal interference by a ‘meddling stargazer’, we will still be getting our hands on… whatever this is… some time in the future.”

Uh…the Galleries on Solemnace? That’s a direct nod to the Necrons. Specifically, Trazyn the Infinite. That also ties in the the whole “temporal interference by a ‘meddling stargazer'” part of the text, too.

This Rumor Engine might not be a Necron tease, but the meta-narrative behind it is an interesting one that does tease something from Trazyn. This could be fun.

Well that’s all for now — but what do you think of this week’s Rumor Engine? What could it possibly be and what does Trazyn have to do with it?!
