It’s time to let this legend rest — Commissar Yarrick is going Made-To-Order along with a few other Guard heroes.

We noted in before that there were some Astra Militarum characters gone from the pages of the latest codex. Well now they really are getting a final send off from Games Workshop because their models are going Made-to-Order. You know what that means. Heck, even GW admits that they don’t have rules and won’t be getting any new ones…for now.

“Some of the characters might not have their own special rules in the new Astra Militarum codex, but they can certainly still be used as generic commanders and commissars.”

They mentioned the fact that not all of these minis have rules — twice! They were really driving that point home. Strangely enough, They were really digging deep into their reserves for some of these minis. Let’s take a look at a few of the soon-to-be retirees.

Just a note here:

” Now, the legend returns with this classic resin model– Ghazghkull will be happy. You can also get the original Yarrick miniature from the 1990s, in metal, from the days when he was hanging around with Duinclaw too much – snip, snip!”

Yep, one is resin and the other will be cast in metal!  That’s a rarity for sure.

Lord Castellan Creed

The old warhound is heading to a farm upstate. At least his coat got handed down to his daughter. He’s getting one final outing in resin.

Severina Raine

Commissar Raine is getting a final outing in resin. Personally, I’m a little surprised by this move but I guess GW needed to trim the fat from the Astra Militarum book and she was just on the chopping block, too.

Classic Commissars

There are many other Commissars getting the boot to MTO as well.  These are split with 4 being cast in metal and 1 being in resin. The shocking thing to me is that most of them seem like perfectly serviceable miniatures with the current range. Then again, there’s a plastic kit that almost has all the same options. Almost.

Classic Inquisitors

Well no one was expecting them and now they are leaving for good. Or at least for a long time. These two Inquisitors are going MTO.

“The masked man is cast in resin, and his colleague with the combi-melta is metal.”

It’s always a bit of a bummer to see models go out of print. But this time feels especially final due it Yarrick being among the lot. Maybe we’ll see him come back as a reincarnated warrior once again. Hey, stranger things have happened in the Grimdark.

One final salute to Commissar Yarrick.
