Apocalisse is a new 5E RPG setting that will have you picking between Heaven and Hell, and probably not the side you think you’d prefer.

The post-apocalyptic world of Apocalisse is not a very welcoming one. It is fraught with turmoil and devastation. But, unlike some other post-apocalyptic worlds, this end of the world wasn’t brought on by man’s hubris. Rather, it’s the literal wrath of God.

Judgement Day of Apocalisse

Apocalisse is a new 5E tabletop RPG setting currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. It is set in a world where the Throne of Heaven has decided mankind has had it too good for too long. But, of course, The Abyss isn’t just letting them do whatever they want and wants a piece of the action. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are running rampant while everyone else is sitting there wondering what the Hell is going on. Literally.

New Class Options

The Furioso is a new martial archetype that will dive headfirst into any battle, no matter the odds. In a world like theirs, any hesitation means death. Furiosos who fight for the Throne are monster hunters who cleanse the land of abominations. Those who side with the Abyss are dangerous combatants who let their savagery take over in combat.

Wormwood Specters are rogues who have studied and learned the secrets of the tainted waters of Apocalisse. They are as mysterious as they are deadly and untrustworthy. They carry censers that emit a toxic and obscuring mist.

Otherworldly Bloodline Sorcerers have a spark of cosmic power within them, angelic or demonic. Many of these Sorcerers bear the mark of their origin. Could be a halo of light, or a shadow that seems just a shade darker than it ought to be. The more prestigious among them might even carry ancient artifacts from the garden of Eden or the Great Flood.

A Bard of Revelation is a roaming prophet who rarely stays in one place for very long. They are blessed and tormented by tears of blood which grant them visions of the future. In order to see their visions more clearly, many will scar their cheeks to allow the blood to flow more freely.

The Mark of the Beast

Adventurers in Apocalisse can gain Marks. Every Mark grants the character the ability to spend a Reaction to add their Mark Die to a failed roll. This starts as a d4, but increases as the character levels. But unlike abilities like Bardic Inspiration, Mark Dice can explode! In a good way.

If a player rolls the highest value on the Mark Die, they roll an additional die and add both to their result. If that second die also rolls the highest value, they roll another bonus die. This chain can continue for as long as the player’s luck holds as they roll max values.

However, Marks come at a cost. If a player rolls a 1 on a Mark Die, they suffer a Fatal Penalty and must consult their Mark’s table to determine their effect.

New Monsters

When dealing with the war of Heaven and Hell, taking on a few measly Goblins doesn’t really fit the bill. So, of course, Apocalisse is chock full of fully 5E-compatible monsters. The Monsters Manual will contain over 100 brand-new monsters, with more planned if the Kickstarter stretch goals are reached.

Check It Out on Kickstarter

Apocalisse is currently up on Kickstarter and offering tons of resources for those who are curious to test the waters before diving in. There is a quick start guide with just enough of a teaser that’ll leave you wanting more. This includes a premade adventure and characters so you can jump right in.
