Homeworld Fleet Command promises to be a quick-playing game of epic sci-fi battles, and it launches on Kickstarter today!

Back in September, we revealed the Homeworld Fleet Command was getting its own board game from Modiphius. Well, the waiting is over! Well, at least the first leg of waiting is over. Because Homeworld Fleet Command is hitting Kickstarter today!

The game will feature a huge 10-part campaign based on the first video game. It will start with fighter skirmish battles and culminate in epic battles on a grand scale. Each scenario is designed to incrementally teach new mechanics of the game. So by the time you’re done, you’re ready to jump into the real meat of the game, which is the PvP options. At least in this writer’s humble opinion.

Homeworld Fleet Command comes with 101 ships, with the expansion adding another 100 more. But the systems are designed to allow for nearly any size battle. So, if you have multiple copies they can be combined into a single massive battle!

How To Play Homeworld Fleet Command

Each round starts with players drawing command cards which they will use to enact certain actions during their turn. After initiate is rolled, the first player plays their command card and enacts the orders on the card. Players take turns playing command cards until they played up to their limit. Each of the separate factions has its own unique command cards and faction strategy.

The rest of the strategy comes from discarding your current command cards at the start of your turn in order to build the perfect hand at the opportune moment.

You can check out the full crowdfunding campaign over on Kickstarter and check out all the details and goodies. Homeworld Fleet Command is a classic video game brought to the modern table and it’s great to see the care and detail that went into the design. You can read all about the design here and here.
