Your party may just be better off staying in the inn and letting this one pass, this week we’re playing D&D with a swarm of sports fans.

It’s time for the big game, friends. And you know what that means? That’s right, sports riots spirited fan celebration. Honestly, I can’t even be mad about these. They’ve just become a part of life. Game happens, fans take to the street. In fact, I went to a college known for partying so hardy that riot police were a matter of course during any and every major game.

But just because it’s a reality doesn’t mean we want to invite that energy into our personal homes. That is, of course, unless we’re talking about a fantasy-based adventure. This week we’re playing  D&D with…

The Sports Fan Swarm

There are a lot of possibilities for this particular swarm. I imagine that they all worship some sort of bird deity. An Eagle perhaps.

Maybe this one. They seem pretty cool.

All in all, I don’t see a lot of fan swarms doing intentional damage to people. So their attacks are pretty limited. Instead, I’ve loaded them up on some fun not-attack abilities. Sure, Stampede will do some serious damage if you don’t get out of the way, but that’s more of a matter of bad luck than intentionally being hurt.

Whenever we see these swarms pop pop up around the country, it always seems like the members get into everything. Up on balconies? Climbing light poles somehow? Climbing greased light poles?! They do it all! Nothing stops them. And therefore nothing will stop them in your game either.

I mixed a bit of a tailgate in with an actual post-game “party” for the sake of getting back some hit points. But whether they’re grilling in the parking lot or raiding an abandoned cart for dirty water dogs, they’re going to find that party fuel to keep them going. This will also be important because a weekend swarm means a swarm with fewer people and a swarm that will do less damage in combat.

Similarly, ‘Join the Party’ isn’t meant to be a mean-spirited attack. In fact, their combined charisma and energy probably just got one of your party members into the spirit for a moment. Hopefully, they won’t get lost in the swarm for too long.

Finally, the swarm of course has attacks, and their go-to move is going to be throwing a bottle at the nearest foe. Hopefully, the bottle is empty. As a second attack, they have the couch fire. This was inspired directly by my alma mater. I may have never spent any time on the side of campus where couches periodically caught fire after games, but it’s the sort of thing you hear about the next day.

But for real you guys, have a great Super Bowl, and stay safe.

Has your city had any post-game rowdiness? Would you join in or stay safely indoors? Will you be watching the Super Bowl this weekend and who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments!
