Marvel’s Midnight Suns video game gets everyone’s favorite 90s anti-hero in the upcoming DLC. Get ready for Venom, kids.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical RPG that uses a card system for battles set in the Marvel universe. Developed by Civilization V and XCOM Enemy Unknown studio Firaxis Games, the game was published by 2K and released in December. It was one of my favorite games last year, even though lots of players missed it thanks to its late-in-the-year release date.

The game has players using a “create a character” known only as the Hunter. The character is voiced by Elizabeth Grullon or Matthew Mercer, depending on what you choose. Hydra awakens the mother of Hunter, who wants to bring about the return of an Elder God name Cthon who wishes to rule the universe. The Avengers are ill-equipped to deal with this mystical enemy and have to turn to the Midnight Suns.

Firaxis Games made one of the most unique Marvel games of the modern age with a mixed roster featuring characters like Blade, Captain America, Nico Minoru, Spider-Man, Magik, and more. These are heroes you normally wouldn’t see teaming up to save the world. The game’s charm also comes from the interactions between all the characters. Each hero is so fleshed out that it feels like you’re friends with all your favorite characters.

The game announced its DLC will be adding 4 characters to the 13-character roster. Deadpool was the first to be added with “The Good, The Bad, and The Undead” back in January. The new DLC also added a new story, new enemy types, a villain, and research missions. This DLC was much more packed than most character expansions in games. For those waiting for even more, we finally got news on when the next DLC character is out.

Redemption – Spoiler Alert!

Venom is one of the first bosses of the game. He’s brainwashed by Lilith, and the symbiote is a major player in the story’s first chapter. Their only goal is to help “Mother” fulfill her goal of bringing about the return of Cthon. Unless they know Spider-Man is nearby, then all bets are off. After a final battle with Spider-Man, Venom disappears with Peter hoping Eddie Brock was freed from Lilith’s control.

The newest DLC “Redemption” will finally answer what happened to Eddie Brock after his boss battle – and it comes out on February 23rd. Eddie Brock wishes to atone for the pain he and his other caused innocent people. Building on Deadpool’s DLC, Venom’s story will have the heroes making a deal with everyone’s favorite devil, Mephisto, to cure the symbiote in exchange for stopping a vampire uprising.

Venom will have 10 unique card abilities and extra outfits as well, including his own Midnight Sun outfit. “Redemption” will also be adding a brand new Abbey upgrade called Whisper Web, which will let the players add modifiers to the “General Missions” to make them more rewarding.

Give Us More Venom

I’m particularly excited for this DLC to drop since I’m a sucker for Venom and all things symbiote-related. I also really want to see what interactions they added between Venom and Spider-Man since the game establishes that this is still “I will eat your brains, Spider-Man” Venom.

I highly recommend Marvel’s Midnight Suns if you are a fan of anything Marvel. You’ll have a blast seeing all these characters doing things you normally wouldn’t see them doing. Playing gives you a feeling like you are a part of the world thanks to the Hunter character.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The season pass is also $49.99 but comes with the Legendary Edition of the game if you haven’t purchased it yet.

Let us know in the comments if Venom is enticing enough to try the game or if you are waiting for all the DLC to drop before doing a replay.
