Phyrexia has breached the multiverse. And a look at March of the Machine‘s gain lands shows just how far they’ve gotten since.

Phyrexia is on the March of the Machine. As part of their drive to Compleat all of reality, those darn Phyrexians are bringing their machine oil to just about every plane that Magic players might recognize. From the streets of New Capenna to Innistrad and beyond.

And you can get a sense of just how dire the invasion has gotten in a look at the new gain lands included in the set. Let’s take a look.

Phyrexia: March of the Machine – Gain Lands

As you can see from the chart here, things are going well for the Phyrexians as of the start of this latest set. In the Bloodfell Caves on New Capenna, we can see that Atraxa, Praetor’s Voice has been dispatched to capture the world’s supply of Halo. While on Amonkhet, the Copper Host has seeded the sands with Phyrexian “plants” as inhospitable to life as they are to death.

The Invasion Tree’s branches have turned the neon-soaked city of Otawara in Kamigawa, transforming the city into a polluted nightmare. Even Ixalan gets some time in the sun. The Jungle Hollow shows how Phyrexian oil can affect even the dead, as the goo drips into the tar pit and starts reanimating dinosaurs. The other Jund land, Rugged Highlands show that Zendikar isn’t going to give up without a fight though.

Meanwhile, in the Scoured Barrens on Ikoria (when was the last time you thought about Ikoria), mutations spread through the crystals that litter the plane. While Kaladesh’s Swiftwater Cliffs get Jin-Gitaxias’d. Even the wilds of Eldraine sprout all manner of Phyrexian eyes growing up among the vines and undergrowth:

Theros is doing extremely poorly, as there we know Ajani Pridemane, Compleated Planeswalker extraordinaire, has ensured that the Phyrexians went after the gods themselves. And so the sky and seas are both oily, and it’s not a great time to be anyone.

Finally, on Dominaria, we see that Elesh Norn herself has taken to Serra’s domain and defiled them:

All in all, Gain Lands are back, but things are looking bleak out there.
