Pathfinder’s legendary comic series once chronicled the tales of adventurers across Golarion. Now they’re back after five years with all new stories.

Pathfinder and its world of Golarion are exploding back onto the scene. As thousands of new players are discovering Pathfinder 2nd Edition, and many more are making a triumphant return to Golarion, Paizo is not only welcoming folks with open arms (in the form of incredible bundles to make getting started easy), but with new stories.

Another legend makes its return. Pathfinder’s comic sagas helped spread the tales of what was happening in Golarion. And after the last series Spiral of Bones ran its course, that was it. Until now. Well. Not now now, but soon.

May, in fact.

Pathfinder Comics Make Epic Return in May

Dynamite Entertainment announced a team up with Paizo to bring the next Pathfinder comic book series to life. Writer Fred Van Lente of countless comics, from The Last Ronin to multiple Spiders-Men will head up the new series, which kicks off this May. In a press release, Dynamite Entertainment revealed more about the upcoming series.

Notably, the new series, titled Wake the Dead, will feature a new party of “iconics.” These are the typical Pathfinder adventurers that you might see in the artwork. The plot kicks off with a defector from Geb, an undead kingdom full of priceless secrets:

Readers will get to hang out with Quinn the investigator, Sajan the monk, Lem the bard, and Seelah the champion. All have appeared before in various Pathfinder materials and even comics, but never met each other and partied up until now. Readers of the original hit series by writer Jim Zub and others will be reacquainted with Harsk the dwarf ranger too though! When they all find themselves cornered by the city’s remorseless Deathsealers, can the Iconics band together for survival and escape a city full of hostile wizards alive?

But each issue of Wake the Dead will also come with “bonus material useful for players of the game.” What does that mean? Well for starters, this includes new character options for inhabitants of the environs of the comics, stats for characters within them, and more. All of these are officially sanctioned by Paizo and, more specifically, the Pathfinder Society, meaning you can play them at any Pathfinder-organized play table.

Stay tuned for more as we get closer to May!
