‘The Mandalorian’: Five Things We Want to See This Season

The Mandalorian is back with season three this Wednesday. Here’s what we hope to see when Din and Grogu come back to our screens.

Season three of The Mandalorian premieres this week. Between how much fun this show has historically been, Grogu, and of course the Mando himself, we’re looking forward to another season. But besides the trailer, we know very little about what to expect this season.  Instead, we’ve had to just speculate wildly and hope. So here are five things we’re hoping to see in season three of The Mandalorian.

Cameos

I’m not typically somebody who likes cameos for the sake of cameos, but The Mandalorian seems to be one of the few shows that always pulls them off well. The Book of Boba Fett tried with a mixed success rate, but something about Mando just makes it work when they “introduce” a character we’ve all known for years. Ahsoka Tano‘s already been introduced, and her own stand-alone show looks like it’s shaping up to include as many Rebels characters as possible, so seeing one of them wouldn’t be outside of the realm of possibility at all. Considering the return to Mandalore, I think an appearance from Sabine would be very fitting and very fun.

More Mandalore Lore

We’re returning to Mandalore this season and have had a near-constant drip of information since The Clone Wars. Yet I want to know more about this planet and the people who lived there. Let’s learn more about the first Mandalorian Jedi. Maybe we can get more information on the planet’s fall to the empire or how the survivors survived. Even just a little random history to further flesh out this wildly interesting piece of the galaxy.

Jedi Training

Grogu met Ahsoka and then trained briefly with Luke Skywalker before going home to Din. But this little guy needs to get more powerful, and according to the trailers seems to be getting more powerful steadily. Is he doing this without any training or a master? Personally, I want to see even a quick appearance from another Jedi who can give Grogu some more pointers. He’s clearly meant to stay and travel with Din, but he’s a very little Muppet in a very big galaxy and he needs to learn to defend himself.

Rising First Order

The First Order has been steadily rising to power throughout the entire show so far. They’re always there as Imperial remnants or being teased as the bad things forming in the outer rim. But I want to see more of this, even in subtle everyday things happening around the galaxy. Luke‘s Jedi school won’t be completed nor his training of Ben Solo go horribly wrong for a little while yet, but the galaxy is still flipping back around them and it’s always interesting to see.

Something The Mandalorian has been really good at is giving us brand-new things to see. Sure, we spend a lot of time on Tatooine, but we’ve also gotten the impression that Din really is traveling all over the galaxy and seeing all sorts of different places. And similarly, seeing a Krayt Dragon on screen was such a fantastic moment. I hope this show never stops giving us these moments or taking us to unseen parts of the galaxy.

What do you hope to see in this season of The Mandalorian? What did you think of the trailer? Which characters would you like to see cameos from? Let us know in the comments!

May the Force be with you, adventurers!
