Are we about to get the backstory on a new/old Primarch?! This Arks of Omen Tarot teaser is making us wonder.

So this week the new Arks of Omen trailer dropped and it’s got some lore bits in there that have us wondering what exactly is this one trying to tease. We’re trending into Primarch conspiracy theory territory with this one.

Let’s dive into that dialogue and the text from the video.

Arks of Omen Card XVII – Purgator

XVII – The Lost Child

The Lost Child

And here

A fatherless son

Alone in the endless night

First up the title of the card is “The Lost Child” which could be a direct reference to the scattering of the Primarchs. We know the Emperor had 20 cloned children. We also know that 18 of them were recovered. The other two…well more on that below. We also have the next lines referring to “a fatherless son” which sure seems to back-up the theory further. There’s not a whole lot of lore around other abandoned kids in 40k. Plus, let’s also remember that this is supposed to be the Emperor’s Tarot. Putting two and two together isn’t a very long leap here.

So what would “Alone in the endless night” be a reference to? Well either space or possibly the warp. We know the forces of Chaos scattered the Primarchs so that would also line up with our theory. But I think another big clue is the Latin-ish title card: Purgator.

Looking up Purgator we find that root of the word is Purgo. As a verb it means to “I Clean” or “I Purge.” So why is this the title of The Lost Child card? Is the child meant to clean or purge? Or was the child clean/purged…perhaps from the Imperial Record?

Let’s not forget about the “Lost” II and XI Primarchs which are also known as “The Forgotten and The Purged” Primarchs. Hmm…that’s an interesting word choice, isn’t it?

Let’s keep in mind that those two Legions did something SO ERRONEOUS that not even the Chaos Space Marine Legions will speak about them. You’d think that Abaddon would taunt the Loyalists with things like “The Emperor will just discard you like he did to the Second Legion.” Or “You’ll die and be forgotten like our brothers in the Eleventh Legion!” But no. Not even Chaos Marines speak their names or acknowledge their existence. That’s (not) saying something!

This is one of those Arks of Omen cards we could theorize about all day. But enough from me — what do you think? Are we about to get some lore bombs about the lost/purged Primarchs?
