Last week, Warhammer 40K Darktide’s developers announced they were going to refocus on addressing community concerns above all else.

If you’ve played Warhammer 40K: Darktide since its release, you know that the game’s been in a bit of a rocky place. It’s fun to play—when it works right. But that can be few and far between.

From lengthy loading times, to glitchy missions, the game has had its fair share of bugs. And as the community spoke out, developers listened, posting an open letter to the players last week promising to focus on addressing community concerns and meeting expectations instead of rolling out premium cosmetics and seasonal content updates.

Warhammer 40K Darktide – Open Letter, Community Concerns

In an open letter, developers at Fatshark promised to focus on optimization and stability in the face of continued community feedback:

We take enormous pride in our ability at Fatshark to deliver a game that millions can enjoy. This was what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – to create a highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours.

We fell short of meeting those expectations.

Over the next few months, our sole focus is to address the feedback that many of you have. In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization.

And while they’ll be delaying the rollout of seasonal updates, it’s well worth it. Darktide has been in need of work. Crafting, while present, isn’t satisfying beyond upgrading weapons. Reviews on the game’s Steam page complain of “performance issues” as well as consistent crashes and freezes. All this despite having hundreds of hours of gameplay on record.

Darktide is a game that players love and very much want to play.

Now the developers will help them do exactly that.
