The “Queen” of Ynnari pain – the Yncarne is poised to be a powerful bit of Meta Hotness in the current 40K environment.

The Ynnari army from Codex Aeldari has started to show up more and more lately.  With changes to the other “good” armies and the continued power of a swirl of good stuff combat options available – the Death Space Elves are set to be a powerful option. Having a super Combat Daemon prince that can Teleport around, hit insanely hard, and just spike the army’s damage potential is one of the reasons why the Yncarne is the newest fresh hotness for this meta.  It also is a pretty insanely awesome looking model to boot so it helps it look unique on the table top as some kind of Slaanesh/Eldar mash up of murder.

Assault and fast moving options are having a bit of a comeback lately as the game has really embraced the “pressure” style options armies can do.  From Orks to CSM – getting mixed in early and holding the opponent in their zone is a huge game changer.  Who cares if you lose all your stuff as long as you force your opponent to not get primary points is one of better ways to control your tournament destiny.

Yncarne 101

Alright so we know it can punch hard and has all the tricks available to the Ynnari army with fight first and different spells.  The big gotcha bit is how this unit can “show up” once something dies or teleport away if something dies.  This is huge as it can safely come in, punch something to death, and then wait for a friend to kill something else.  This pulls this model into the interesting territory just from being able to “move” like the wind across the tabletop.

The Yncarne Likes Strands of Fate!

Hey if your army is all Asuryani too the Yncarne can use Strands of Fate dice.  Do you need to make that charge – just use those Fate dice to get there. Do you need to make sure to make those important 4+ inv saves?  I got you too with some dice you get every turn.  Sure you could have a bad turn of terrible options but how often does that happen to Space Elves?

Psychic Powers

Beyond just hitting hard and moving like the wind the Yncarne is also a Psyker and can throw out 2 spells a turn.  With an option to heal some of your models and adding to the wound role this model can be a weird boon unit to your army full of Death Zealots.  It’s really an amped up Daemon Prince of doom and despair.

Armylist Tips & Tricks

This is a pretty powerful little combat army that’s only real issue is it doesn’t score 100 points.  Still, with so many Pressure builds showing up having an army full of Fight First nonsense is a rough thing to face.  You have to be careful how you bring in your units and you are always threatened with this big giant Death Elf coming from the Warp and wrecking you with its giant blade of doom.  Get close, get to chopping, and hope the damage back doesn’t wreck you too bad.
