There’s a new World Eaters codex on the way with some alternate army options included. Meet the dreaded Disciples of the Red Angel!

If you’re planning on including Angron in your World Eaters army (and why wouldn’t you) then there’s an alternate army option to consider. You’ll have to forgo taking any mortals in your list (which means no Berzerkers or Jakhals) but in exchange, you’ll get some potent new powers to play with.

“Not only do your Eightbound and Exalted Eightbound gain Objective Secured, the new Arks of Omen Detachment means you don’t need Troops – so you can fill your army up with daemonic foot soldiers. One unit of possessed World Eaters from your army also gets to pick a special Daemonic Infusion. These offer a variety of extra boosts, such as helping to secure objectives or shrug off sorcerous harm.”

Again, you only get to choose 1 Eightbound unit to get one of these boons — but they can be very handy! A big block of them could be great for taking objectives thanks to Drawn to Power. And Brazen Skin is fantastic against anyone packing a lot of mortal wounds.

The Disciples of the Red Angel also have access to all those potent Daemon Engines, too. Don’t underestimate what those extra pieces of support can bring to the tabletop. And by support I mean shooting. Lots of shooting. a Forgefiend or Lord of Skulls can provide some important cover fire to pop transports so your Eightbound units can get to the squishy insides.

The Disciples also get access to some more stratagems. Eight to be exact. Because of course it’s eight. Here’s a couple of them now:

Both of those stratagems are going to be VERY useful for the Disciples of the Red Angel to use. Close the gap and keep them locked in.

Finally, we get three more relics they can use. We also get confirmation that Lords on Juggernauts also count as part of the army options, too.

This offshoot of an already scary close combat army sounds terrifying. I hope you’ve brought enough firepower to dent them before they get to you…otherwise, there will be skulls for the skull throne!

Were the World Eaters sounding good to you? Have you heard the good news about the Red Angel?
