‘Knights of the Zodiac’ – Mystical ‘Saint Seiya’ Manga Comes to Live-Action, First Look
Knights of the Zodiac is coming to the big screen in a new live-action adventure this summer. Check out the first trailer!
The movie is based on Masami Kurumada’s highly successful manga series. It was originally serialized in Shōnen Jump from 1986-1990. The story follows the Saints, five warriors who wear a sacred set of armor and are empowered by a mystical energy called “Cosmo.” The Saints have sworn to protect the reincarnation of Athena against other Olympian gods who want to control Earth.
It’s one of the top-selling manga series, with over 50 million copies sold. That success spawned multiple spin-off series, anime, and video games. The series has finally made the jump to live-action this year – with some pretty big names attached.

Knights of the Zodiac Live-Action
The adventure begins when the goddess of war reincarnates into the body of a young girl. Through a series of events, street orphan Seiya discovers that he is destined to protect her and save the world, but he must face his past in order to become a Knight of the Zodiac. This first look is action-packed. Knights of the Zodiac looks like a great escape if you’re tired of what Marvel and DC are offering but still want some super-powered battles.

The movie was directed by Tomasz Baginski from a script by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Kiel Murray. Mackenyu leads the cast as Seiya. He’s joined by Famke Janssen, Madison Iseman, Diego Tinoco, Mark Dacascos, Nick Stahl, and Sean Bean.
“A headstrong street teen spends his time fighting for cash while he searches for his abducted sister. When one of his fights unwittingly taps into mystical powers he never knew he had, Seiya finds himself thrust into a world of warring saints, ancient magical training, and a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection.”
Knights of the Zodiac hits theaters on May 12th.
