Fans finally know when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to consoles! Someone spilled the beans… blame it on the symbiote!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Marvel’s Spider-Man came out in 2018 and was a huge hit among everyone who played it. The game is held up to the same standard as Batman Arkham Asylum among comic fans for how much it made them feel like the hero. The sequel was officially announced during one of Sony’s PlayStation Showcases in 2021 with a voiceover by Kraven the Hunter and the reveal that Venom would also be one of the main antagonists. Since then, Insomniac Games and Sony have been careful to only release limited info.

We’ve slowly gotten more news about the game since its initial reveal trailer from various places. Stuff like Creative Vice President of Marvel Bill Rosemann’s hint that the game will be much darker in tone and rumors like that an alleged playtester who said a more obscure Spider-Man villain will be in it. We recently covered the new dialogue system revealed by one of the developers as well. Everything we do know is very exciting and the release has been a bit of a mystery with the official release window being Fall 2023. Well, we got some new info on the release from an unlikely source.

Symbiotes Do the Darndest Things…

Tony Todd is a very popular actor and will be providing the voice for the symbiote Venom in the upcoming sequel. He has talked about the game in the past like an interview where he explained that Venom will have huge set-piece fights in the game. The sort of thing that you feel comfortable sharing with news outlets. Well, Todd is now in the club, along with Norman Reedus, of actors who let big video game news slip way earlier than it was supposed to.

In a since-deleted tweet, Todd let it slip the game will be released in September.

The actor then went on to mention that marketing will be getting a huge push in the month of August. He most likely knows this because he probably recorded some stuff for it and just couldn’t wait to tell everyone. Tony Todd returned to Twitter though to explain he will be giving no more hints and that Jet Lag was the cause for the slip-up.

I know it was an accident, but it is the kind of funny stunt Venom would pull to steal Spider-Man’s thunder.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Nigh!

Gamers now have a more focused deadline for their wait to play Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The good news is both of those games are on PS4 and PC. If you feel like you don’t have time to play the first game, I also recommend the “Gamerverse” comics that adapted the first game and it’s DLC into comic form.

The sequel will be a PS5 exclusive on launch with no word on a PC release and luckily PS5 consoles are now much easier to find now than they have ever been. The shortages are loosening due to supply increasing and scalpers have finally eased up because of it as well. I am one of the lucky few who got a PS5 on day one and it is one of my favorite consoles Sony has ever made despite its large size.

Either way though, if you are a fan of Spider-Man, I can’t stress enough how fantastic the games are, and hope the sequel lives up to it. Till next time True Believers!
