Is the latest installment of the franchise worth seeing? Find out in the One of Us crew’s Evil Dead Rise review.

The deadites are back! This new installment of what is, perhaps, the only horror franchise (with more than 2 films) that every chapter of it works, Evil Dead Rise also changes a few things up. While there is (briefly) a cabin in the woods, the setting for the bulk of the film is a dilapidated apartment tower scheduled for demolition soon.

One of the few remaining families still living in it, Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) and her three children, are visited by Ellie’s estranged sister Beth (Lily Sullivan). When the children return from getting pizza (so the sisters can have some time to argue), a quake rocks the building and opens up a hole in the underground parking lot. Turns out, this building long ago was a bank and the hole leads to a sealed off vault, and it was sealed for good reason. Before you know it, you got yourself a book of the dead, possessed folks, and tons of carnage.

Chris, Marco, and Tessa are here to tell you how this stacks up in the Evil Dead franchise, whether it’s just pillow talk baby or if it’s totally groovy.
