Jake Gyllenhaal is a soldier that takes his debts seriously. Check out the One of Us crew’s Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant review.

In a film so different from everything else he’s made that he had to put his name in front of the title so you’d know it was him, The Covenant takes place during the war in Afghanistan. Jake Gyllenhaal plays sergeant John Kinley. His squad is tasked with uncovering hidden Taliban IED factories. His new interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim) was once sympathetic to the Taliban, but not after they killed his son. He has taken this position with the US military for 1-revenge and 2-the promise of visas for him and his family to go to America.

When a mission far away from base goes sideways, Ahmed and Jake are left on their own to run from forces chasing them across miles and miles of desert. A bond is created between the two men and some bonds are unbreakable, especially when the US doesn’t exactly keep to its word about visa promises.

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant Review

Chris, Marco, and Wright took on this tense message-based thriller and found it largely a pleasant diversion from Ritchie’s usual fare. Which isn’t to say it’s without problems. Listen to their review!
