Star Wars: Unlimited is a new TCG that will take from EVERYTHING Star Wars. We’re not sure if we’re excited or dreading the inevitable X-Mas Special cards.

Fantasy Flight Games recently announced their newest foray into the Star Wars universe of games with Star Wars: Unlimited.

Regular Release and Events

According to reports, the game is not set to release until 2024, but promises the game “features iconic heroes, villains, ships, and settings from all facets of the legendary Star Wars franchise, including movies, TV series, comics, video games, and everything in between.” For fans of the extended Star Wars universe, this could be very exciting news.

Similarly, the press report states the game is both easy to learn and strategically deep. FGG has been working on the game over the past three years and are planning 3 sets per year. On top of that, the design of Organized Play has been baked into the game since the beginning. Expect weekly store-level events all the way up to global tournaments.

Star Wars: Unlimited is For Everyone

Finding a balance between casual and competitive players is never easy for any game. But, Jim Cartwright, Product Strategy Director for Fantasy Flight Games, stated “Ensuring this game was accessible to all players was key for us, so whether you are a casual player, competitor, or collector, there’s something for everyone in this game.” Cartwright goes on to state the game is “clean and concise with no gimmicks – a card game in its purest form.”

This does probably mean we won’t be seeing any Star Wars in the new Disney Lorcana. A shame to be sure. However, if FFG can keep both running smoothly, seems like we’ll all come out of these winners.

As of right now, there is very little else to report, but rest assured we will be keeping a close eye on Star Wars: Unlimited to be sure to check in for regular updates.
