The new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop has be questioning if this patchwork cape is leather or not. And I’m not sure I want to know.

Welcome to Tuesday and another edition of the Rumor Engine. I don’t want to get ahead of things so before we dive into what this material is made of it’s probably best for you to take a closer look.

“We think we’ve found a way of getting a clearer image from the rumour engine. Some shadowy acolyte we met on the way to the kitchen introduced us to a brilliant idea: the RumourChain. Apparently, for the small consideration of our mortal soul, we can induce the Rumour Engine to manifest an image that can only be associated with one specific future miniature lodged on the Rumour Ledger. This faintly smouldering robed figure referred to them as Non-Replicable Generations. We’re all in!”

Patchwork Cape…Maybe?

Nice blockchain joke there, GW. Anyhow what the heck are we looking at today? As mentioned above it looks to be the ends of a patchwork cape or coat. That may or may not be leather…and I don’t think it’s cow hide. There’s a few things that use this look already.

My first thought was Fabius Bile because anytime I see a patchwork of “leather” pieces I can’t help but think of the Grimdark Tallman. However, his latest model has a much better tailor and the seems are much cleaner.

So I don’t think it’s another new Fabius Bile model coming. The next option is on the other side of the Warhammer spectrum with the Mega-Gargants from Age of Sigmar:

The Mega-Gargants all have that patchwork quilt look with their clothes.

A lot of the look also comes down to how you paint those patches. In any case the seems have a very similar look and craftsmanship. That got me thinking…maybe it’s not a Mega-Gargant that’s going to get an update…

Whatever this one ends up being I’m just curious about the material they used to craft whatever this ends up being. Is it leather? Is it PEOPLE? Or maybe it’s just cloth…And the next big question is who’s wearing it?

We like people leather…

If you’ve got any theories we want to check them out in the comments. And minus internet points for anyone who says it’s made of plastic…we get it.
