Goatboy’s Warhammer 40K Hot Mess – Tau XV25 Stealth Suits

I don’t think T’au XV25 Stealth Suits are terri-bad. But they need a rework both in a model form as well as rules.  Let’s get cracking.

Stealth Battlesuits feel like the toddler suits for the T’au Empire.  Basically, if your dad couldn’t afford you a cool battle suit they got you this rental of derpy model that shoots kind of ok but looks weird.  It doesn’t have the cool anime-like options of the bigger suits, doesn’t seem too “intimidating,” and just feels off.  It’s weird that we had an animated show with them on it and somehow, the model still just looked goofy. Holy crap, how old are these models?  I remember them when I first saw the Tau come out and how these models haven’t shifted or changed since then.

So how do we make them better?  Well, I am glad you ask good readers – we make them tougher, shoot better, and maybe worth it.  With that – let’s get to brewing.

Make XV25 Stealth Suits Tougher

There is no reason these guys shouldn’t have 2 wounds.  They are in a mechanical suit. It has all this tech in it, it’s stealthy, and it should just have 2 wounds.  Heck, it should also be tougher too, as it should be armored up a bit just with how bulky it looks.  That is the first thing I would do if I could wave a magic wand and shout some friendly advice to the dark gods of Warhammer Datasheets.

Make Them Stealthier

Why not let them be a bit more spooky with how they are set up?  Things like you could put out a few tokens, and the XV25s could show up anywhere – due to some kind of stealth technology.  Enemy units that get too close can break the illusion if they are not out yet. But the idea that they could show up anywhere would be awesome.  Just like the old Monty Python Spanish Inquisition – they are there to bring the law of the T’au to your poor little head – just when you don’t expect it!

Amp Up XV25 Stealth Suit Guns

I sure hope they get some cool gun stats with the new edition.  Devastating Wounds, Sustained hits, or Lethal Hits to help amp up their little Gatling gun.  I wonder if there is some kind of cool option where it turns on a different power to help them deal with an enemy at the specific time they pop out.  Let the Stealth Suits have a once-a-turn option to “shift” their bullets into different modes and let them be an interesting all-comers option for the army.

Give XV25s Interesting Loadouts

Hey you could have Farsight ones that get close to flamer people.  You could even do melee ones or drone jerks who like their little robot buddies.  There is a ton of weird little things you could do for these little “mini suits” that could fill different roles other than pseudo gunships and other nonsense all the other suits do.  XV25 Stealth Suits are supposed to be the crazy commandos as they get close, become a nuisance, and dakka your buddy in the face.

These T’au Stealth Suits Show Up in Starter Boxes –  So Make Them Worthwhile

It’s just a shame, as while the model is dated, it isn’t completely terrible.  It has a distinct look for the Tau and could be a fun little option to let the army be all suits for a true Gundam experience.

Shhhh… those Stealth suits are sneaky.
