Dawnbringers Book I: Harbingers starts a new chapter for the narrative of Age of Sigmar — and brings new Path to Glory Rules!

When Games Workshop announced the new Dawnbringer: Harbingers series alongside all those new characters we were intrigued. Now that we know those models are also coming with their own Regiments of Renown we are VERY curious to see how that will all tie in together. And now we have a bit more info as well as some free Path to Glory Rules to download.

Four named heralds are the focus of the Harbingers series, bringing warnings of the upheaval to come and a whole new Path to Glory battlepack. This follows the scouting forces of each Grand Alliance, who are setting up communication outposts to assess the lay of the land ahead of the calamities to come.

Harbingers And Path to Glory

First up you can download the Path to Glory rules for free right now. So there’s that. You’ll need a Path to Glory Roster for the Harbinger’s battlepack as well. There’s some new twists and turns coming in the book.

Additionally, there’s some extra things going on in the Harbingers book. First up we have a new scheme from Grandfather Nurgle:

“Grandfather Nurgle’s Shudderblight plague is sweeping through the realms, inflicting a terrible toll on combatants fighting under the pall of this soul-sickness. At the start of every game, the winner of a roll-off determines which malady affects the battle, adding one to the roll for each player with an outpost – because no news travels as fast as misery.”

There’s also some new allies to call on as well via the Outposts in the game.

“Outposts allow players to receive messages from nearby settlements for a chance to receive Alliance Points, which can then be spent on requesting support. Before deployment, players can spend an Alliance Point to request aid from a faction of their choosing in their army’s Grand Alliance, rolling a dice and adding 1 if the faction being petitioned is listed as an ally in the army’s Pitched Battle profile. On a 3+, the request is granted.”

GW provided a couple examples of the these bonuses using the Daughters of Khaine and the Ossiarch Bonereaper abilities as an example:

Additionally, the battlepack will contain six new narrative battleplans as well as two new quests. One of the quests allows you to add a Harbinger to you army who can then get some additional upgrades to play with!

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of these rules. I do wonder what the story is heading toward and I’m also curious how this will impact Matched Play (if at all).

Pre-orders for the Dawnbringer book go up this weekend!
