Nightshift has players adopt the role of a dancer who must charm worthwhile customers into emptying their wallets.

Here at BoLS, we cover a lot of board games with themes you don’t see very often. Medieval farming games are a dime a dozen. But, games like the Steve Urkel board game, or the cartoonishly violent Wabbit Wampage push what board games can be. Seems like no matter the subject matter, there’s a game for it. Nightshift asks you to set your preconceived notions aside and walk a mile in someone else’s very tall shoes before you go and judge them.

Nightshift is a competitive and highly thematic narrative game coming to Kickstarter soon. You can sign up to be notified when it launches in late 2023.

Players will play as dancers looking to charm and win over their customers into emptying their wallets. But this is a competitive field. Interfering with another girl’s customer is a quick way to get yourself in trouble. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins!

Nightshift was designed and created by artist Exotic Cancer who provides the game’s art, mechanics, and themes from their own personal experiences.

According to the designer, an ex-dancer herself, Nightshift is about storytelling. It’s a game that will “provide a playful and engaging dive into what it’s like to work at the club for a night.” Of course, the main goal is to have fun and enjoy a fun tabletop game. However, Nightshift also hopes to tear down the stigmas and stereotypes surrounding the industry by giving people some insight into this often misunderstood profession.

Nightshift will be running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in late 2023. Be sure to sign up to be notified when it goes live, or sign up for the mailing list on the main site. And see if you have what it takes to make it working the nightshift.
