The Worms board game, based on the frantic video games, is exploding from screens and onto tabletops. Start practicing those ninja rope jumps.

Mantic Games has announced a partnership with Team17 to bring their famously silly video game, Worms, to Kickstarter this August in the form of a brand-new board game.

For Worms Fans Everywhere to Enjoy

The announcement for Worms: The Board Game, was released late last week. It promises a barrage of holy hand grenades, exploding sheep, and rocket launchers.

Worms: The Board Game is shaping up to offer all of the addictive, tactical gameplay and laugh-out-loud moments that you’d expect!,” said Ronnie Renton, CEO of Mantic Games. “We love the videogame series, and it’s an absolute joy to bring this feel-good experience to the tabletop for Worms fans everywhere to enjoy with their family and friends.”

Team17, the publisher and developers of the Worms series, “worked closely with Mantic Games,” according to Michael Pattison, CEO of Team17 Digital. “We’re really excited that our wriggly critters will be shortly battling away on tables around the world.” The timing couldn’t be better for a whole new way to experience the manic mayhem of Worms. The board game is set to have a retail launch in 2024, leading into the series’ 30th anniversary in 2025.

Classic Worms Gameplay in a Whole New Way

The Worms series of video games are turn-based tactical artillery skirmish games. Each player controls a group of worms using a massive arsenal of wild and wacky weapons. Starting from the lowly bazooka, up to exploding sheep, airdropping a concrete donkey statue, or the infamous holy hand grenade. It’s hilarious every time to accidentally misjudge your shot only to bounce some atomic warhead right back into your own face.

The Kickstarter campaign for the Worms board game is coming soon. As a huge fan of the series since nearly its inception, I’ll be keeping a close eye on this. Be sure to keep an eye out for any future updates or developments. But you can also sign up to receive a notification when it goes live. I know I did.

Grab your friends and unleash classic weapons, sneaky tactics and all-out multiplayer mayhem!
