Warhammer 40K: More Space Marine Indexes – All The Flavors of Adeptus Astartes

Well… except Grey Knights. Anyhow, all the codex-adjacent Chapters of Space Marines have free Indexes to check out!

If you’re a fan of Dark Angels/Blood Angels/Space Wolves/Black Templars/Deathwatch then you’re in luck today because their Indexes are now available!

Each Index also needs the full Space Marines faction Index to operate, as they all benefit from the Oaths of Moment army rule and can deploy most of the same core troops and vehicles. Each Chapter also includes a unique Detachment, granting a characterful rule plus bespoke Enhancements and Stratagems to spruce up your Space Marine army.

Each Index will require the Space Marine Index to function properly. There’s a LOT of datasheets to chew on now. The good news is that if you were playing one (or more) of these armies you can now do so again — or at least get ready to as we still need points.

That said it’s also super easy to try out one of the other factions because the core of the army is still the Space Marine Index. If you want try out a different flavor of Space Marine you’ll just need to remove any Chapter specific units and characters and either replace them with generic options or add in the other chapters unique options.

On one hand I do like how easily you can swap between chapters if you want to try them out. On the other hand, I’m not a huge fan of just playing a lot of “counts-as” stuff. I want my Blood Angels that I painted as Blood Angels to stay that way and not suddenly be Deathwatch. I might still try out the different options if I want to play something different to test things out…but I wouldn’t take the list beyond testing without some serious hobby time.
