From power cards to gorgeous new reprints the highly anticipated Commander Masters set will be a massive addition to the MTG library.

Hot off the heels of the highly successful Tales of Middle-Earth set, Wizards is preparing to release Commander Masters. While there will only be a few new cards in this set, all the reprints will be powerful pieces from Magic’s history for the Commander format. Many fans have wondered what cards are getting the reprint treatment, aside from the few we’ve already seen like Ur-Dragon and Selvala.

While we don’t know every card making its way back, a Twitch preview gave us some insight. EDH fans and collectors will be jazzed to see some of their favorites with gorgeous new printings. The tables of Commander are about to get a lot more colorful.

Gorgeous Staples

Ask any EDH player, and they’ll tell you a few cards are ALWAYS in your ninety-nine. Mana fixers like Sol Ring and Command Tower are almost required for an EDH list. “Turn one Sol Ring into Arcane Signet” is a common joke about a powerful deck. All three cards are getting beautiful full-art reprints, adding a bit of color to your most oppressive first turns.

While none of these cards are challenging to get, the new art will be worth trying to snag. Players who prefer looks over power will want to add these gorgeous pieces to their deck.

Family Jewels

The five color-themed Medallion artifacts have been highly sought after since their initial release. Applying a flat mana reduction for just two generic mana, they have been staples in most two- or three-color decks if you could snag one. That’s easier than ever, thanks to reprints in Commander Masters. While they’re still rare, meaning getting one is hardly guaranteed, the reprint at least makes them accessible. Plus, they’ve received a gorgeous etched foil treatment, giving the beautiful jewels a little more shine.

Legends Get a New Look

Like the common staples above, several cEDH power cards are getting a new artsy look. Combo pieces like Spellseeker and powerful commanders like Azusa, Lost but Seeking are being treated to spectacular full-art cards. Spellseeker is a personal favorite, since it looks like a young Rona, and it’s nice to imagine the corrupted mage as a young apprentice. These power cards are worth seeking out even without the art, however, and will add a powerful punch to your favorite deck. As more cards are revealed, we can only imagine what gorgeous new art the power staples will be treated to.

We’ll stay on top of reveals, so check back in to see more spoilers as they appear. If you want to watch the release video yourself, you can check it out on Twitch here.

What reprints are you hoping for?
