MTG: ‘Metal is Forever’ Secret Lair
A new Secret Lair set proves that Death is Temporary, Metal is Forever. Check out some of the most metal Magic cards this side of a foil sheet.
Magic and Metal go together so well that one is often confused for the other. No seriously, Magic Card or Metal Band is a legit game and it’s so much harder than you think to guess which one is which. But you don’t have to take my word for it, you can try that for yourself.
And that game is about to be even harder with the release of a new Secret Lair that blends the two as it proves: Death is Temporary, Metal is Forever.
Metal is Forever Secret Lair Bundle
The bundle kicks it all off with a poem that feels like it would be equally at home being scream-sung by a Scandinavian:
“Waste Not” by the Nekusar, the Mindrazer
Syr Konrad, the Grim rode into war,
Upon a steed of shadow and pain.
The inhuman horde fell to his sword,
The ghasts and the ghouls had been slain.
But when the Mindrazer joined the fray,
Syr Konrad was unseated and fell.
Bound to the Wheel of Misfortune,
And slowly dragged into hell.

And in this Secret Lair set you’ll get five cards all in all. Each taken straight from one of these stanzas, starting with Syr Konrad, the Grim.
Syr Konrad adds on an extra bit of damage anytime a card ends up in the graveyard (unless they died on the battlefield. And he hits all your opponents, making him right at home in Commander.
Then Waste Not transforms your milling into thrilling, by bestowing a boon depending on what cards your opponent has abandoned into their graveyard this time around.
And Underworld Dreams will ensure you hit them coming, as well as going.
While the Wheel of Misfortune will make the whole table stop and try and figure out Game Theory.
All of which feels like something Nekusar, the Mindrazer would be after.
