Necromunda: New Core Rulebook Sounds Just About Right

With all the expansions, sourcebooks, new campaigns, and more finding the rules for Necromunda has been a chore. Until now.

There’s a new Necromunda Core Rulebook on the way and it’s looking to consolidate all the rules into one handy spot. And thank the Emperor for that! It was getting a bit confusing to find all the various rules you needed to run your gang.

“Last year, our gangs burst out of the underhive and onto the ash wastes, bringing ramshackle vehicles into environments that are somehow even more hostile than the hive into play. Add that to the combined weight of many other supplements, expansions, and downloads, and you have a recipe for a sprawling set of rules in dire need of consolidation… which is where the new Necromunda Core Rulebook comes in.”

New Necromunda Core Rulebook

Games Workshop has gone over a few things in the new book to look forward to and I must say I’m finding myself agreeing with many of these changes. First up, and probably most important, it’s ALL the major rules you need to play. That includes Zone Mortalis, Sector Mechanicus, and Ash Wastes. This is fan-freaking-tastic. It doesn’t stop there either. We also will have consolidations for actions, vehicle rules, and all the weapons and their traits, too!

This great news for anyone who’s been trying to keep up with Necromunda’s releases. There’s been a lot of books and expansions to keep track of so finally getting all those major rules in one spot really does help.

That’s not all the new book will have either. There’s going to be some new rules updates as well. We don’t know all of the changes but you can bet there will be tweaks and updates all over the place. Hopefully this will help eliminate the confusion and make finding rules easier. GW did tease some of the changes ahead:

  • Black Market and Trade Post will be be one stop shoping
  • Earn XP for Inflicting Serious Injuries
  • Earn XP for helping a Teammate recover
  • Serious Injuries rolls will also count as Flesh Wounds
  • You’ll Get to choose Secondary Skills for 12xp now
  • Skill Updates
  • Lasting Injury Table is going Old School with Impressive Scars and Bitter Enmity!
  • New To-hit penalties for Tricky Actions

…and more! Again, you can read the full article from the WarCom team but it’s all sounding good to me. When the game has grown this much a consolidated rulebook is a welcome addition.

Still Room To Grow

With all the moving and shaking that’s happening on Necromunda the game has moved far beyond the Hive Spires. There’s a lot of political machinations happening as well as a full blown rebellion that’s in the works. The house of Helmawr has a new leader and Lady Credo is leading that rebellion with the aid of a few of the major players. And that’s just on the lore front. We still new vehicles for a few gangs and there’s also literal chaos cults popping up, too.

Now is a good time for the Core Rulebook to consolidate things because I think it’s only going to get crazier from here on out! The fighting is spreading from the Hive to the Ash Wastes and back again. Gather your crew and get ready for a gang war on a whole new level!

I much prefer one book to carry vs a half-dozen.
