In an announcement about The Witcher TTRPG, R. Talsorian games revealed that more content is on the way. Eventually.

R. Talsorian posted an announcement about the progress of The Witcher TTRPG recently. If you’ve given the RPG a shot, then you know that there hasn’t been much news on that front as of late. Turns out there’s a reason for that. And it has everything to do with licensed material.

Licensed material, aka RPGs, based on existing IPs, can often be a mixed bag. The familiarity of the franchise can sometimes be restrictive. But other times the development can get caught up with licensing issues. These plagued the Ghostbusters RPG, back when it was coming out. But, R. Talsorian delivered the goods with a fun, decidedly dark fantasy tabletop take on Geralt of Rivia and his world.

Why the delay? The answer comes from behind the scenes.

The Witcher TTRPG Still Going Behind the Scenes

Per R. Talsorian’s announcement:

We know there’s Witcher fans out there waiting for more content for The Witcher TTRPG and we also know you’ve noticed our relative silence on the game line. Thank you for your patience.

The truth is, there are things happening behind the scenes that we can’t talk about right now. As CD Projekt Red, our licensor, gears up for not one but multiple Witcher projects, our own plans have evolved. We need to keep step with them and not rush ahead, to ensure our lore matches their lore. To ensure a consistency across the Witcher universe.

That being said, we are working on something new for the game and hope to announce more about it at Gen Con 2023 during the R. Talsorian Games Q&A seminar. And, since we know the vast majority of gamers can’t attend Gen Con, we’ll also announce it here on our site and via social media.

Again, thank you for your patience, your support, and your love for the game.

So it looks like big news is coming to Gen Con. With any luck. In the meantime, if you’re curious about The Witcher TTRPG, you can check it out below!
