The next DLC has been revealed, and via the strangest sources too—a 15-page short story introduces the Shadows of Change and Yuan Bo.

More Dragon siblings come to the party in a new short story released on the Total War dashboard. This free, 15-page story introduces the next two (probably) Legendary Lords, as well as setting the conflict stage for the next DLC. Titled Shadows of Change this new DLC looks at Tzeentch’s machinations, and the Celestial Dragons aligned against schemes.

Specifically we get a look at Yuan Bo, the next Cathayan Dragon. Like his siblings, he’s able to transform into a dragon to unleash havoc all across the battlefield. But he also is a masterful administrator and bureaucrat. And on top of that all, he’s the grand executioner as well. Let’s take a look.

Total War: Warhammer 3 – Shadows Of Change And Yuan Bo Revealed

In the short story we meet Yuan Bo, Master of the Meteor Wind. And from that description alone we get a better idea of what he can do. Mechanicswise, he feels like someone who’ll take on the Yin element, working pretty handily with ranged weapons. Especially since some of his abilities include deflecting missiles, and commands Meteors.

The story introduces Yuan Bo’s new forces as well, specifically calling out the Onyx Crowmen. These are flying assassins, hybrids who are part human, part crow, all deadly. And over the course of the free story, Yuan Bo tangles with Tzeentch as well.

Specifically he tangles with the insidious plots cooked up by The Changeling. Which all but confirms that the Tzeentchian Shapeshifter will be the villain at the heart of the coming DLC. We also get a look at just how powerful the Shapeshifter’s treachery can be: he impersonates none other than Miao Ying, the Storm Dragon, and is only found out because Yuan Bo knows his sister too well.

All in all, the next DLC is shaping up to be pretty exciting!
