Dimension 20 fans rejoice, the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strike won’t delay your favorite actual play, as Dropout is back in production.

Big news for fans of Dimension 20, Dropout.tv’s actual play series that has encompassed everything from John Hughes meets D&D to a Kids on Broomsticks game that showed just how much of an impact American students might have had on a certain British school of witchcraft and also wizardry; Dimension 20, along with everything else at Dropout is back in action.

Previously, production and promotion had been on hold at Dropout. On July 15th, Sam Reich, “Ringmaster” of Dropout announced that production had been on hold owing to the SAG-AFTRA/WGA joint strike. Even now, writers and actors fight for a livable wage that amounts to a fraction of a percent of what studio/streaming executives are paid each year.

And despite Dropout not being associated with the AMPTP, which negotiates for the majority of studios and streamers, their contract was not specifically on a list of non-struck contracts. But today, Reich announced that after speaking with Dropout’s lawyers and SAG, they’re good to return to business as usual.

Dimension 20 and Dropout Back in Action

As I mentioned, Dropout is not associated with the AMPTP, who negotiates on behalf of the majority of studios and streamers.

But truthfully, there’s no such thing as a “struck company.” There are instead “struck contracts” and “not-struck contracts.”

We assumed Dropout’s contract – the New Media Agreement for Non-Dramatic Programming – was struck because it wasn’t specifically on a list of non-struck contracts.

After speaking at length with our lawyers and with SAG, turns out that is not the case.

So, Dropout can return to business as usual.

And because our shows were never struck, talent can go back to promoting their Dropout appearances. 🎉

For a while, Dimension 20 was one of the only actual play shows that had been halted due to the strike. When the trailer for the upcoming Dimension 20 series Mentopolis was released, with the internet’s Hank Green guest starring as a character who represents the ability of the mind to fixate on something, there was basically no promotion. Save for a vague tweet a few days earlier:

Now, however, with Dimension 20 ready to fire on all cylinders once again, everything is in motion once more. Including an excited “THE TRAILER!!!” from Green.

Dimension 20 had previously stated that they had enough material for the rest of the year, which seems to indicate that fans won’t have longer than usual to wait for the next batch of Dimension 20.
