Atomic Mass Games is showing off two more heroes from the upcoming and updated Core Set for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Last week we got a look at the two captains and a spider from the updated Core Set. Today, we’re getting a look at a professional assassin and the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Invincible Iron Man

“He’s been in this superhero gig for awhile now though and has left that armor built in a dirty cave far behind him. He has saved countless lives, battled both heroes and villains for what he believes in and invented countless new technologies. Realizing the good he can do not just as a hero, but leading a group of heroes, he’s expanded his horizons and taken on a big new responsibility.”

This version of Tony Stark aka Invincible Iron Man is from a snapshot in time when he was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s a bit more experienced and (as if he need to be any more) confident in his abilities. That’s represented by his new Threat 4 version here. Compared to his initial Core Set version he’s got a lot more going on. To put it mildly, he’s just better across the board vs his Threat 3 version. He’s got more powerful attacks and has three options instead of the two from before (the third attacked on his injured side). He’s also got a new Leadership ability if you’re running the S.H.I.E.L.D. affiliation which is handy.

He did swap out his Friday AI for J.A.R.V.I.S. and this really feels like a side-grade as it can help buff someone else instead of your own attacks. Overall, I like this version for 4 Threat and it’s a nice alternate option for Iron Man.

The Black Widow

“Her days of spycraft and intrigue may not be behind her, but the dark motives certainly are. At this point in her life, The Black Widow is a well-known member of the Avengers, an indispensable operative for S.H.I.E.L.D. and has worked with a variety of super teams to right wrongs and save the world. A professional in all circumstances, Natasha is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.”

The Black Widow is back and kicking some major butt with this Threat 4 version. Again, compared to her previous versions (of which she had a Threat 2 and 3 version) this one is just better. Which checks out as you’re paying for the improvement with the extra point of Threat you have to spend to add her. She’s now packing her iconic Shock Batons and Widow Stingers in this version. She’s also pulling no punches with Deadly Origins which is a great way to finish off an opponent.

She’s also surprisingly resilient thanks to her Martial Artist, Stealth, and Calculated Risk abilities. Black Widow has some great utility with All That Matters Is The Mission which allows her controlling player to place an objective token instead of the opposing player if she has to drop it. That might not sound like much but when you’re trying to extract an objective that could be the difference between being able to score in a turn or completely turn it over. Natasha Romanoff is super spy for a reason!

Both of these heroes are going to be included in the new Core Set coming for Marvel: Crisis Protocol!
