MtG: Secret Lair Angels Ascend to New Heights
I believe there are Angels among us, and they all have vigilance, lifelink, and…wait, is that a tentacle?
Secret Lair is an awesome part of the Magic hobby. With these quarterly releases, you can spruce up your deck with alternate art and powerful cards without fighting the lottery. While this usually means 4 or 5 unique cards, occasionally, the mad mages at Wizards release something special: a full Commander deck.
They’ve done this in the past with Heads I Win, Tales You Lose and Cute to Brute, but this time they’re headed to the celestial realm for an Angel tribal deck. Angels: They’re Like Us, but Cooler and with Wings is a fully playable deck with some awesome alternate art. If you want a powerful new deck that will be the envy of your friends, try to grab this deck and a few powerful upgrades.
1. Angels: They’re Just Like Us but Cooler and with Wings
This Commander deck is absolutely gorgeous, and the alternate prints are incredible. Unlike previous decks, the value of the deck far outstrips its posted price. In addition to the beautiful reprints, the deck includes powerful chase cards, like Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and Gisela, as well as a never-before-printed card, Arden Angel.
This deck is a banger right out of the gate, but if you want to really excel, you’ll want to add in a few friends. But hurry, this deck is strictly limited run!!
2. Avacyn, Angel of Hope
When you need all your permanents safe and sound, there’s no better guardian than Avacyn. She keeps all your expensive pieces safe from board wipes and damage. Just watch out for -1/-1 and exile; there’s only so much Sorin’s creation can do.
3. Lyra Dawnbringer
The deck has a life gain subtheme, so you’ll want your Angels working for you as much as possible. Lyra makes sure that happens, giving them a power boost and the coveted lifelink ability. When you need more life, Lyra reminds you to just turn on the light.
