Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader’s Main Theme is a gothic, choral delight. You can hear the weight of the 41st millennium.

Music is one of the core elements of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. It helps set the stage for the grim darkness of the distant future. From sweeping, epic choral pieces, to the eerie sounds and songs that fill the Warp, getting 40K right is as much about the feel as it is getting the armor and explosions of the Astartes right, for instance.

Owlcat has recently previewed their Main Theme as sung and recorded by a live choir. As the choir from Four For Music Ltd. come together to give you the gothic glory that is the main title, you might slip right in through the Cicatrix Maledictum. Take a listen.

Rogue Trader Main Theme – Live Choir

Music is one of the key features that weave a captivating atmosphere. In a setting whose ambience has won the hearts of thousands, such details are especially important. Our composer Paweł Perepelica, along with the choir from Four For Music Ltd., strived to embody this atmosphere in the game’s main theme.

Praise the Emperor, that’s pretty good. And if you want to hear it in context for yourself, as well as several other pieces of music (and also, y’know, the combat and dialogue and all that stuff), you can check out the ongoing pre-order beta. Folks who pre-order the game get immediate access to the beta, as well as a special role on the Rogue Trader Discord server, if you’re looking for another server to make the Discord sound because you forgot to turn off notifications and now you’re hunting through the latest batch to find the culprit.

Right now the beta explores a significant chunk of the game, though more is being added and developed all the time. There’s no release date announced as of press time, but if you’ve been wanting to see what Rogue Trader is all about, now’s your chance.

What Dynasty will you forge for yourself in the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium?
