Need to gather your whole party before venturing forth? Here are five great ways to get the band back together in a hurry.

Never split the party, so they say. Of course it’s going to happen. Whether you want to or not, play D&D long enough and you’ll find yourself needing to get through a door with the whole party, but not everyone is nearby. How can you gather your party before venturing forth?

Well, like everything in D&D, the answer is, of course, magic.

Telepathic Bond

Communication is key in pretty much any relationship. But especially in multiple relationships, just ask any stabilized polycule, and you’ll find more communications systems than a satellite array.

Which is why being able to instantly communicate with each other, no matter the distance, is going to help your party of weird misfits, disaster queers, and murderhobos with hearts of gold keep in sync for at least an hour, with the Telepathic Bond spell.

You can communicate instantly and telepathically across any distance, and it’s not blockable by anything except being on another plane.

Vortex Warp

Sometimes it’s just that one person who’s out of position. Either they’re wearing heavy armor, or they go for the extra treasure while everyone is trying to escape the collapsing temple. We all have our Beni moments.

But you can save your friend from their ill-fated end with the Vortex Warp spell, which lets you teleport one creature, willing or otherwise, instantly to wherever you need them. This works for friends and foes alike.

Scatter

What about when you need to rearrange the whole battlefield? Scatter is helpful for that. This 6th-level spell from Xanathar’s Guide to Everything lets you teleport up to five creatures of your choice (yourself included) anywhere you like. Again, willing or otherwise, though unwilling creatures must succeed at a Wisdom save to resist the spell.

Gather your whole party (as long as they’re relatively close) in one fell swoop.

Dancing Lights

Sometimes you just need a bit of guidance. And Dancing Lights lets you create four glowing beacons that you can control at a whim. Lead your party exactly where you need them to be as you float these four lights in whatever guiding pattern you can design.

Telekinesis

Finally, for when you have to actually gather everyone by force, Telekinesis is the gift that keeps on giving. When people are out of position or when you need to snatch your party member from the middle of whatever fight they’re in, you can use the Creature option of the Telekinesis spell to move a creature up to 30 feet, and you can pick multiple targets. It’s not the most efficient way possible, but it will let you get your whole party together, as long as you can get within Telekinesis range of them.

Now that you’re gathered, venture forth!
