The Rumor Engine is looking like it’s ready for action. It’s handheld and also looks like it could puncture an unfortunate target. It’s got plenty of arms!

It’s another Tuesday which means it’s time for a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Today’s image is rather compact and deadly. But don’t take my word for it! Have a look for yourself:

So what are we looking at? Well this looks a lot like a handheld crosbow to me. The question is what unit or army would have such an weapon? Based on this design I think we’re looking at something from the Stormcast Eternals or Cities of Sigmar:

I’m not entirely sure which Stormhost it would be, but for some future Stormcast Eternal or Cities of Sigmar scout and sneaky units, it looks right at home:

Alternatively, it could be associated with something from Necromunda, too. House Cawdor could have something old-timey like a hand crossbow in their units as wel. To be honest, it’s almost too clean and well-maintained for these guys.

Finally, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Umbraneth. When the old  Warhammer Fantasy Dark Elves return, and return they will – they will have weapons. Ane everyone remembers what the favorite weapons of the old denizens of lost Naggaroth loved…

That said this is from a brand new kit that hasn’t been released yet (which is pretty typical from GW). And this image could be a year or more from a release, too. What does that mean? Well, this could be from a completely new army! Who know what it could actually turn out to be (besides GW). That’s where you come in. If you’ve got any theories drop them in the comments.

Whatever this one turns out to be it looks quite dangerous and quiet. I wonder who would wield such a small and silent weapon into battle?

Step right up and drop your guesses in the comments.
