From WotC via the man behind Knights of the Old Republic comes an infernal new sourcebook/adventure: Chains of Asmodeus.

There’s an old saying that goes, “if it has stats, we can kill it.” This is an adage that has proved true in any RPG, and especially true in D&D, where players have been attacking and dethroning the gods since the first release of Deities & Demigods. All it takes is giving your deity some hit points and an armor class and resourceful players will find a way to kill it.

In 5th Edition, one of the ultimate evils, Asmodeus, Lord of the Nine Hells, the ultimate archdevil, who rules all others and whose schemes and power is such that he’s never been successfully challenged may be about to learn the hard way what happens once you get stats. Because that’s exactly what’s happening in a new sourcebook “from Wizards of the Coast” by way of Arcanum Worlds, the WotC-owned studio headed up by legendary game dev James Ohlen.

Ohlen has many titles to his name, including Baldur’s Gate I & II, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and much much more. And under Ohlen, Arcanum Worlds has published various other 5E books, including most recently Minsc & Boo’s Journal of Villainy.

It says right there on the listing: “From Wizards of the Coast”

Chains of Asmodeus is a new high-level adventure and sourcebook, published to help raise money for the Extra Life children’s charity. Unlike more recent adventures, this one starts at level 11 and goes all the way up to level 20. So if you want a high-level adventure, Chains of Asmodeus is going to be your best, “WotC-official” bet.

Chains of Asmodeus

Chains of Asmodeus is a 286-page sourcebook and adventure for the Nine Hells written by legendary game designer James Ohlen (Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins) and award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky (Children of Time, The Tiger and the Wolf, The Doors of Eden). This book is beautifully illustrated with haunting art from Sergei Sarichev, Sergey Musin, Julian Calle, Sebastion Kowoll, Paul Adams, Luis Lasahido, and the Aaron Sims Company.

Travel through the Nine Hells to save your soul in this tome that includes:

  • 50+ High Challenge Monsters
  • Stat Blocks for Asmodeus, Lord of the Nine, and all major Archdevils
  • 20+ Infernal Magic Items
  • New Item Corruption Mechanic
  • Details on all Layers of the Nine Hells, with Beautifully Illustrated Maps created by John Stevenson
  • A Fiendish Adventure for Levels 11-20

All proceeds from Chains of Asmodeus go directly to Extra Life©, a fundraising program of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals© that helps children receive crucial medical care.

The adventure is available now as a digital-only sourcebook.

Even Cthulhu gets killed in Call of Cthulhu, like all the time. Only a matter of time before ol’ Asmodeus eats it.
