Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin the AoS RTS got a major patch and two new DLC heroes today. Meet Yndrasta and Gobsprakk.

Not long after its somewhat rocky release, Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin gets its first major patch alongside two new DLC heroes, Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear, and Gobsprakk, the Mouth of Mork.

These two new characters are the big shiny new thing. But if you’ve been playing the game, the biggest thing about today’s update is the new patch. Players are already reporting that the game plays much smoother, and have been noticing significant improvements.

Which is a welcome balm, considering that after the launch of AoS: RoR, the studio behind it, Frontier Developments, announced they were expecting a loss this year, and that they would be refocusing their business on “CMS [construction and management simulator] games, such as Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution.”

But even with this news, the developers are still making the game better and better with each new patch. And both Yndrasta and Gobsprakk will bring powerful new abilities to the game. Check it out.

Big Day For Age of Sigmar: Realm of Ruin – Update 1.1 And New DLC

Unleash the might of Yndrasta and the destructive power of Gobsprakk on the realm of Ghur in new DLC for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin available now!

In the DLC 1 & 2 Launch Trailer, we get a glimpse of the two new heroes in action. Yndrasta is a frontline character who can charge into the fray from a surprising distance, and deliver big heavy hits:

While Gobsprakk provides buffs and is capable of getting his mount to emit a terrifying screech that causes all sorts of chaos, well, Destruction I guess, on the battlefield.

Which is exactly what you’d expect from the Mouth of Mork.

Both of these new heroes are included in the Ultimate Edition. If you have that, you have them, though it’s worth pointing out that there’s a known issue where they don’t appear to be unlocked on some platforms, this is a known issue that should be fixed soon. However, the real exciting news is the massive update, 1.1.

Update 1.1 Patch Notes

You can find a full list of the Patch Notes here. But, just to highlight how much this improves the game, here are some of the highlights:

  • Improved squad responsiveness by altering the reaction and turn speed of units
  • You can now retreat immediately when entering combat
  • Additional gameplay buffs will be applied to the player when playing on Warrior difficulty
  • Improved Tzeentch gameplay performance
  • Fixed a crash caused by lots of squads engaging in combat
  • Fixed an issue where ranged squads could become immobile when attacking
  • Made tweaks to AI so they do not prioritise defending victory points if there are better targets to attack
  • Brimstone Horrors will now be able to attack the Lord of Change. They’ve got over their fear

And all of this is just a drop in the bucket. These are some of the more egregious ones we ran into when playing. But there’s a laundry list of campaign updates, fixes to the workshop. Even audio rebalancing.

The team at Frontier Development have really taken player feedback into account and now the Mortal Realms feel a lot less mortal and a whole lot more realms.
