We’ve gotten our hands on the new Flesh-eater Courts miniatures and they are even cooler in person. Talk about a glow-up!

I was already pretty excited about the new Flesh-eater Courts releases from the images that Games Workshop used. But we got our Army Box for them from GW as a preview and WOW — it does not disappoint. Let’s take a closer look at these new miniatures .

Varghulf Courtier

Let’s start with the Varghulf because it’s the only “replacement” model. I really like the new pose and please excuse the gaps in the model. This is why I prefer plastic glue vs super glue — but also once you do a little hobby work on them you won’t even see the gaps on the final product. Anyhow, it’s a great new update to the existing Varghulf model. Plus it’s plastic instead of resin now. Also these guys are beastly on the tabletop and I have a feeling you’re going to be seeing even more of these in the coming months.

Now on to some of the new stuff…

Morbheg Knights

The Morbheg Knights are brand new kit for a brand new unit. I love the idea that these are the “cavalry” for the “noble” Flesh-eater Courts. I mentioned before that I was a big fan of the bat-like mounts and now seeing them in person they are even better! We’ve built one of each type but you can also just have them loaded up with weapons for those times you want to reinforce the unit. I can’t wait to see what the community does with this army and what other nasty tricks they come up with on the tabletop.

Abhorrant Gorewarden

This might be my absolute favorite model from this batch. I really like the way the wings turned out on this model. I also like all the little details all over the body. The keys in particular are a really subtle nod to the role this Gorewarden plays in the lore. He’s got the literal “keys to the kingdom” and they are a sign of his authority. Aside from that detail, I also really like the overall imposing stature of this model. It’s almost a statue in some ways — like a gargoyle glaring at all those below.

Cryptguard

When the Flesh-eater Courts were finally getting their Battletome I was wondering if they would get another Battleline unit or an Crypt Ghoul update. And the Cryptguard are the answer. This is another great addition to the range and just gives more options to FEC players. There’s a lot of diversity in these models and it’s great to see ghouls with weapons. I mean, it’s slightly terrifying, but also it makes sense. If a skeleton can wield a sword and shield then a ghoul should be able to pick-up a stick or two and swing that at foe. In this case the stick just happens to be a halberd but you get the idea.

I also appreciate that the GW kept their terribly bad (for your back) posture. It just goes to make them a bit more inhumane even though these are the most “alive” members of the Grand Alliance Death. If blood-crazed cannibals were already scary then get ready for those same ghouls but with weapons!

The Flesh-eater Courts Army Box should be showing up in stores this weekend. I hope you’re able to get your hands on a copy if you wanted one!
