Larian Studios keeps on giving, this time with a surprise Baldur’s Gate 3 advent calendar full of goodies for the 12 days of Christmas.

Fresh off of multiple Game of the Year wins, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Larian Studios keep on giving. This time rolling out a surprise Baldur’s Gate 3 advent calendar that promises all sorts of goodies, starting with a familiar tale titled How the Gremishka Stole Christmas.

The advent calendar, so far, comes with a memory game. Match the cards, and win some downloadable BG3 goodies. Bask in the festive cheer. It’s hard to stay in the holiday mood given the multiple layoffs at WotC, including most of the team who helped get the license for Baldur’s Gate 3 to Larian. Even so, if you’re looking for a little festive cheer, this game has some relaxing rewards so far.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Advent Calendar

It is an extremely low-stress little puzzle every day that ends with a treat. The first little treat sets up the very Baldur’s Gate 3 Christmas, with the tale of a thieving Gremishka who detests cheer and detests around the holidays:

In the taverns and halls where gossip’s most prevalent Is where tales are whispered of a creature malevolent Who appears once a year on the feast of midwinter To take from the revelers knee-caps, noses, and fingers.

“She loathes Christmas joy, the mirth and the cheer,” or so says your nan, her eyes widened with fear. “Never go to ‘er dwellings in the caves ‘cross the river, Else the Gremishka will get ya and she’ll make you her dinner.”

After that, though, the rewards are a little more tangible. The second day of the calendar comes with an audio download of the city streets. It’s honestly a great little ambiance that you can play in your tabletop games, or use in very limited other ways, as you’ll have to agree to the terms of use before downloading, which spell it exactly how you can use it.

But considering it’s one of Larian’s audios, that makes a lot of sense.

That audio continues for the second day, with the “Dark Corners” track adding a more sinister air to your cityscapes. Will the rest of the calendar be little audio snippets? Will we get in-game goodies? Time alone can tell. But for now, enjoy “A Very Baldur’s Gate 3 Christmas.”

Only nine days to go!
