Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader has officially launched. The Koronus Expanse beckons, time to decide whether you’re going to do a Heresy.

Alright chums, you’ve seen the early access vids. You’ve maybe even played the first bits. But now, Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, the first ever 40K cRPG, is officially out in the wild. That means the galaxy is yours for the taking. If you have your Writ of Trade and a trusty crew.

Fortunately,  you’ll get both at the outset, and the game keeps getting better once you get going. From Pathfinder Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous developer, Owlcat, Rogue Trader puts you in command of your very own Rogue Trader vessel, unleashes you upon the galaxy at large, and leaves the rest up to you.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader – Take To The Stars For The Emperor (Or Not)

There is a lot to juggle in Rogue Trader. But that is exactly what you want out of a foray into the Warhammer 40K universe. It is a party-based cRPG with a system designed from the ground up by Owlcat in conjunction with Games Workshop to bring you all the grim darkness of the 41st millennium right on your desktop. Or laptop. Or whatever you’re playing on.

You take command of a voidship and head out into the wilds:

Begin your adventure aboard your personal, giant voidship, traveling between the multitude of systems within the Koronus Expanse, a barely charted and incredibly perilous region of space. Despite being considered a backwater of the Imperium, this region encompasses an enormous stretch of the void, filled with dangerous creatures and prodigious opportunities for profit and exploration.

As this is a role playing game, you have plenty of opportunities to do exactly that. You decide whether you’re going to be loyal to the Imperium and follow the faith of the god-Emperor, or whether to get out there and do a Heresy. Just be careful, because there is an Inquisitor in this sector of space, and you don’t want to run afoul of him until you’re brimming with the Fell Powers.

Accompanying you is a crew of all sorts of 40K riff raff. Psykers. Xenos. A member of the AdMech, an Inquisitorial agent, even a Space Marine if you play your cards right. This party is as varied as it is capable.

You’ll take that capability into the sweet sweet tactical action against the perfidious foes of the Emperor. Or you know, just to make a few hundred thousand credits. But your actions, your party, your ship, can all influence the shape of this corner of the galaxy.
