There have been some complex MOC plans out there for the iconic flyer a bit, but this is the first official LEGO set inspired by Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi universe. In conjunction with the release of the upcoming sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, fans are finally getting a LEGO Ornithopter. It’s got flapping, rotating wings!
Dune doesn’t have a ton of stand-out vehicles and starships like Star Wars does. We can hope this means a sand crawler, or maybe a Space Lighter or Heighliner, is in the future. I’d jump at the chance to build Chris Foss’ concept art for Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune with LEGO bricks.
LEGO Atreides Royal Ornithopter
Build the iconic dragon-fly inspired Ornithopter with this new set designed with grown-up builders in mind. The craft has functional blades that flap and retract with a 180-degree rotation. It also has foldable landing gear. The set includes eight of the key characters: Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Chani, Leto Atreides, Liet Kynes, Duncan Idaho, and Baron Harkonnen in his long, flowing robe.

Dune: Part Two
The sequel covers the second half of the classic sci-fi novel. Starting with Paul and Jessica’s trek to the Fremen sietch. This half will bring more interplanetary politics, Paul’s rise as a leader, and the fight for Arrakis’ independence that becomes Muad’Dib’s Jihad.
The returning cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
Dune: Part Two arrives in theaters on March 1st.
