Disney fans, eat your (kingdom) hearts out, there’s a new tabletop RPG board game coming from the makers of Lorcana.

Chalk another one up for the inevitable juggernaut that is the House of Mouse, but the maker of Disney’s Lorcana, Ravensburger, announced a new “adventure game”, Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition). Leaving aside, for now, the name, Ravensburger revealed the game blends board game and more traditional TTRPG elements together alongside Disney heroines like Belle, Moana, and Maid Marian.

It was only a matter of time until Disney entered the TTRPG space. It seems a foregone conclusion almost that this is the first of many. After all Disney and RPGs have gone together since the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series, Kingdom Hearts, and have stayed together all the way through the 12th game in the series, Kingdom Hearts III.

Now, though, Ravensburger brings dice to the world of mice. Here’s what we know so far.

Ravensburger Brings TTRPGs and Disney Together

So far, solid details are still a little sparse. But in the announcement, we got the general gist. In Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls (Disney Edition) you play as iconic Disney Heroines, mentioned in the release were: Belle, Maid Marian, Violet, and Moana from Disney and Pixar properties. If you don’t know which ones, just ask a child.

The game blends roleplaying game mechanics with traditional board game rules as well. Over the course of the game, players form alliances with Disney characters as they go on adventures to thwart the schemes of various Disney Villains and “restore the Realm of Light.”

A lot of RpG muscle is at work here, including the Head of New Games Marketing at Ravensburger NA, Lysa Penrose. Penrose once worked on adventures like Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and said in the announcement:

“As we’ve seen time and time again with games like ‘Disney Villainous’ and ‘Disney Lorcana TCG’, bringing Disney heroes and villains into one shared universe reignites powerful nostalgia and provides a platform to bring friends and families together in an immersive and highly creative experience. We know how imaginations ignite when you bring Disney storytelling to life in board games, and we can’t wait for you to see what happens when Disney Princess characters and other Disney heroines join forces and take center stage.”

When the game comes out, it will be for up to four players, ages 8 and up, and will run for $29.99.
