Ewoks are coming to Star Wars: Shatterpoint and they are ready to hunt some Stormtroopers! It’s rules preview time.

When you think of Ewoks you probably think of those cute, teddy bear looking creatures from the moon of Endor. And you’re not wrong. But also don’t forget they were about to roast a few fan favorite Star Wars characters in Return of the Jedi! They ARE cute — but they will also eat you. How will that be represented in Star Wars: Shatterpoint? We’ve got a look at a few of their unit cards so let’s find out!

“Like all Ewoks, Chief Chirpa is of diminutive stature, but should not be underestimated as he is counted among the strongest and most shrewd warriors of his people. He has considerable combat experience facing the perils of his homeland and is highly respected by both the elders and subordinate warriors of Bright Tree. “

Chief Chirpa is a great little support to have around. Mobilize the Village allows him to boost the attack rolls of other Ewok units in range. Sticks and stones might not seem like effective weapons but when you throw enough of them at something the can do some damage. Bright Tree Defender also gives him the ability to react when a fellow Ewok is Wounded. This can let me move to safety to help heal or move up for a better position to launch a retaliatory attack.

Again, he might not look deadly with primitive weapons…but distinctly remember Ewoks using Stormtrooper helmets as drums after the battle of Endor. Ask those Stormtroopers how effective those weapons were. Oh wait, you can’t cause they are DEAD.

Don’t discount those spear attacks is all I’m trying to say. His Sharp Stick ability also applies an Impact [2] as well — again, surprisingly effective. And while he might not have a Blaster, he’s got Bola Toss which can Pin or Expose an enemy target.

Ewok Hunters are also fans of the Stealthy Approach. Dash up and get cover or take a focus action to surprise your prey. Coordinated Fire also allows these Ewoks to swing above their weight-class. This can allow them to Pin an enemy unit that’s already taking fire from another Ewok. And never forget that Ewoks aren’t afraid to gang-up on a target to take them down. Use your Strength in Numbers to drag down to toughest of foes.

They might be cute and cuddly but that doesn’t mean an Ewok or three won’t ruin your day in a fight.  Chief Chirpa and the rest of the Ewoks are coming in February.
