The Orc and Goblin Tribes are coming to The Old World in a massive green wave. This is how it should be done.

In case you missed the news, the Orc and Goblin Tribes are the next army to get a re-release for The Old World.

There’s a new battalion box as well as some new miniatures and a whole bunch of returning classics. The Orc and Goblin Tribes are getting a LOT of miniatures.

OG Battalion Box

“The Orc and Goblin Tribes are launching with a massive battalion box alongside an Arcane Journal. The former contains 73 plastic miniatures – two Orc Boar Chariots, 31 Orc Boyz (including a champion, a musician, and a standard bearer), and 40 Goblins with command upgrades of their own. ”

One important note about this box is that it does NOT contain any rulebooks, dice, or any extra accessories — it’s just miniatures. That could be a good thing for a lot of folks.

New Miniatures for the Orc and Goblin Tribes

There’s also a pair of new miniatures coming to the range. One of which is a new named character!

First up is a new Black Orc Warboss. And second is the new Orc Shaman Ogdruz Swampdigga:

I like both of these models and I’m glad to see the range getting some new stuff. Both of these will be in Forge World resin.

Returning Kits

Now, as far as returning kits there’s a TON coming. But it makes a lot of sense when you break it down. The Orc and Goblin range was still being used by Age of Sigmar for a lot of these models until very recently. Black Orcs, as one example, where just updated but those miniatures were still be produced from the same sprues. Anyhow, here’s a list of the returning kits:

  • Orc Bosses
  • Orc Boyz Mob
  • Orc Boyz and Arrer Boyz Mob,
  • Orc Boar Boyz Mob
  •  Orc Boar Chariots
  • Black Orc Boyz Mob
  • Goblin Mob
  • Night Goblin Mob
  • Goblin Wolf Rider Mob

All of these kits are returning in plastic. So that’s great news for fans of the Orc and Goblin tribes. Additionally, there’s a ton of stuff returning in resin and even more stuff coming back in metal. If you want to see the full list you can read that here.

Now That’s a Return To The Old World Release For Ya!

While there are a bunch of kits that will be Made-to-Order this is a really huge release. Compared to the Tomb Kings and Bretonnians, the Orcs have clearly overrun them both. I get that those two ranges weren’t quite as large to begin with but the Orcs and Goblins feel like a major army release; GW just broke the dam and the OGs are coming.

Again, I know that quite a few of these kits were basically still being produced so reboxing them for The Old World probably wasn’t as big of a logistical hurdle. This wave makes me feel a little bad for everyone else though. I’m pretty sure only Chaos Warriors have a chance to get this level of miniature support when the time comes. For every other army, get ready for some pretty token re-releases…

Orc and Goblin Tribes Players rejoice — you’re getting ALL the love from The Old World!
